Testing Chicago’s Responsiveness

On June 20th I purchased my city sticker, as a good Chicagoan does. I got my order number, my receipt and then went on about my business waiting for it to arrive in the mail.

My life, like most peoples, is hectic. I run a business, sit on two boards for local nonprofits, blog about my love for Chicago, run TEDxWindyCity, blah blah blah so awaiting my city sticker was not exactly at the top of my “things to worry about list”. After all, I have my receipt…it’ll be here any minute.

This morning I came out to my car and there was a big ole $120 ticket on my car. It is then that I realized, my city sticker never arrived!

This is unfortunate but I realize things happen.

I have now tried calling the City Clerk Office several times and each time I get hung up on by the automated system because their call volume is so high.

So, I am writing this here and will be tweeting it to the City Clerk in hopes that I will get a response.

Update: Less than 10 minutes later, the city reached out to me on facebook with a direct number to call and resolved the issue! They are shipping me my new city sticker + an affidavit so I can contest the ticket. And…this is why I love Chicago and Social Media.
